If it will start you motor and perform as you wish. Yes ! an extra 25 lbs makes a lot of difference in boat performance.

I think I would use a lawn tractor battery myself. I have used them as a TM battery for a pond. That way I didn't have to carry a big battery. Works fine.

I used a lawn mower battery for my 25hp Johnny and it crapped out after just a few months. Charged it every time. Buy a small regular start batt and you'll be ahead of the game. My two cents.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
The battery will not last to constant recharging. Plust, its size limits its stamina.
It won't work for very long.

I have laways used a lawn tractor battery in my bost.....25 merc. It helps to strap it down. Bouncing around will shorten the life a lot. I can get 3 seasons out of a $20.00 battey and run the himminbird from it. If I fish the gulf coast a lot it shortens the life due to heavery water but I need the light weight to get close to the redfish.
I'm not near the boat this week. I can tell you I purchased it from Wal-Mart and it was the middle price battery. If it will help I can get the info for you next week and post it. In the garden center I found the plastic tray that it sits in...the key is to keep it from bouncing around. To much movement will cause interinal shorts.
Let me know if you need the info.
I had someone check and it is 275 cold cranking. Came from Wal-Mart for sure.
If you want to run some electronics and other items, you may want some Deep Cycle lean like the Optima 27 I got. Not that you have to get an Optima, but some kind of Deep Cycle would help if you run a lot of electronics as I do.
