    Default Fishing line sizes. Guess?

In the photo are two types of fishing line. The one on the right is Spiderwire that is advertised as 15 pound test and 4 pound test diameter when compared to monofilament.

The one on the left is Trilene XL. I colored it black with a sharpie marker so it would show up in the photo. Can you guess what pound test that line is?

Both lines are fresh off brand new spools.

Hard to say, but it always seems to me the size equivalent from braid to mono looks like it's larger than they say. I would guess that the mono in the pic based on what I see when I compare the two kinds is more like 10#. I have never seen braid as small as they advertise. I know when I look at what they say is 4# size to me looks more like 10# in mono.

I still use braid because of the great sensitive and feel of the bite or what ever is down there, but I never thought it look as small as they say.

This is how I make my guess.

I dunno. You have the advantage here.

Nevertheless, I use vicious 6lb for jigging and bait fishing for crappie.

    I use 12lb / 4lb dia. Fireline for longlining. ( I don't like losing a 300 to a 5 lb carp.)

It's 8#. It looks smaller to me than the spiderwire that's supposed to be 4# diameter.
