    Default hydraulic steering fluid

Is there a suitable replacement for Seastar fluid? Seems I had read somewhere that ATF would work.

I have read reports that ATF can make the steering stiff but don't know that for a fact.

On Sea Star, you can use ATF Dextron in a pinch. Here's their recommended list of substitues for Sea Star fluid. Texaco HO15, Esso Univis N15, Mobil Aero HFA, Aero Shell # 41, Chevron Aviation Fluid A, and fluids meeting Mil H5606C.
