Sure has a good gut. The slot limit has helped (14 - 16 inches) and they have plenty of panfish and shad to gorge themselves on.

In the past I’ve had several days when I wouldn’t get a single tap. But using Trout Magnet this year changed that. I’ve had two days in 2022 when I didn’t catch anything at all. First, when the water was 6-8 feet high. And, second, when I was testing out the Presso reel with 0.2# PE (caster further than 0.4# ester but currently I’m leaning more in favor of ester). The objective for that day was to “test.”

Victor has good things to say about Nikko Pin Worm. Someday I will give that a shot. But, for now Trout Magnet will remain as a high confidence lure in my book.

Congrats on a super fish and a great outing. I use domestic light stuff and have gotten a few worth mention also. I love the smile we develop when we think back on fish like this.

Nice catch! Always a blast when you hook up with a bass on lighter gear.

Exactly! I will remember this catch because it was on SUL, not a MH or H power rod. It measured approximately between 19” - 20”. Based on the length to weight estimate it should be 4lbs.

I got into the JDM stuff this year and have acquired two rods:
    Finetail Area Stage SUL
Presso Air AGS XUL (yet to be delivered)
But I also have a number of domestic UL rods which I have built myself. Primarily MHX (older) and NFC (more recent). One of my favorites is the NFC FW-741 (2) HM. It gives me fun on smaller fish and can handle surprises from larger specimen better than Finetail SUL.

Here’s one I caught on this blank back in Nov.
