I have been looking for one also, did you ever find one?

Does anyone here have any experience with telescoping rods?
Their utility was really highlighted on my trip to Europe, where almost everyone has a telescoping rod, as I could just put it in a little gear bag. The one I got is a light, not ultralight rod, but given my use of ultralight lures, if anyone has experience with a telescoping ultralight, it would be great to hear some reviews.

CTPanfisher, I think due to the nature of how thin the butt section of an ultralight rod will have to be I can’t imagine how will it house the remaining sections and the wall still thick enough to be strong. Like you I have also been searching but mean time purchased a JDM Nissin Fabulous 6ft medium light rating down to 4lb test and 5 grams lure. It’s more of a multi species rod for me than the typical panfish rod.

The Japanese make some serious telescopic UL rods. I don't expect anyone to go out and buy one of these this is just to show that they do make them. There are others less expensive than this one...which is around 500 bucks. These sure are beautiful.

I have the Daiwa Wise Stream 50TUL spinning rod. I purchased it from Chris Stewart at Finesse Fishing. Very nice travel rod. Rated for 2 - 6lb. line and 1.5g - 8g lures. I'm using 4lb. Varivas line spooled on a Daiwa Iprimi reel. This setup fishes just fine. I don't use it nearly enough as use my other JDM UL's most of the time. It was a bit of a pain to get the guides lined up as the each have to be lined up when extending the sections. After you do it a few times it's not that bad. You also have to be careful with the tip as it is delicate. It comes with a plastic protector for the tip as well as a decent rod bag. If I go somewhere where I think I might want to toss a line I take this rod as it is very compact.
I have the Abu Garcia Troutin Marquis Nano TMNS-566L II. I mostly cast a 1/32 jig head with small swim baits and get decent distance. I shared the same experience of finding setting up the guides annoying at first.
These floating guides are a challenge at times, but I at least appreciate the manufacture uses very good quality guides and inserts.
