Default St Croix Imperial 6’ 2wt

I beat the thunderstorms this morning and got in an hour and half fishing with my new 6’ 2wt St Croix Imperial fly rod .
Matched up with a 2/3 Redington Zero reel and a three weight line , I was ready to get it slimed .
I bought this rod for short casts to small panfish , specifically green sunfish , but I’ll take whatever takes my fly .
St Croix changed a few things on the Imperial back in 2018 , I believe I read . The color is more brownish red , the guides are now black as is the fancy reel seat with pretty hardwood insert .
The little bug wand is great at short casts , throwing my size 12 spider right where I want it as long as the wind isn’t too bad .
The overcast ominous pre thunderstorm weather was hot and humid this morning and I knew I wouldn’t last long . I was wet with sweat in about thirty minutes.
But it was fun catching what few gills I caught . Even the little fellows put a nice bend in this one .
Here’s some of the better ones . No monsters, but pretty fish .

I think they were living in the moss on the bottom of the lake . The water is almost always clear in this reservoir.
