I received my St Croix 6’ 2wt. Mojo Trout rod yesterday, and my St Croix 6’ 2wt Imperial arrived this morning.
I’m sure some of you are wondering why I bought both ?
Well , to begin with , I couldn’t decide between the two . And this a certain retailer had a $25 off coupon code off $150 or more order and it pushed me into ordering the Mojo Trout .
Knowing I’d never find a deal like this .
Wouldn’t you know it , a couple days later , same retailer has a one day sale of 15% off sitewide and free shipping .
Yep , couldn’t resist.
There was a shipping hiccup that held up the Mojo Trout and it arrived three days late , just beating out the Imperial.
The wiggle test tells me , these may be true 2wt rods . Strung up , a tug on the line puts a sweet bend in the rods , almost full length .
These are going to be perfect rods chasing green sunfish or maybe a stocker trout , if I can ever get a chance to make that two hour drive north of here .
Both rods weigh in at 2.2 oz and paired with a Redington 2/3 Zero reel @ 2.7oz gives me a combo at just under 5oz .
The ultralight rod creates a minor problem with most of their weight in the grip and handle . The combo with line balances right at the reel . I’d like it to be an inch or so forward .
Not sure I’ll notice it fishing , but I don’t think anyone makes a lighter reel .
I’ll be featuring these two in some post in the near future . Along with pictures .
