    Default Another UL creek challenge

Action was pretty slow midday at the creek. Water clouded up bad and had only managed one little Smallie in 1 1/2 hours of pitchin different lures. Was contemplating heading out when a good fish hit. Stayed deep and slow runs and my first thought was maybe another Freshwater Drum. Not huge but this 21" Channel Cat put up a real good fight on the UL gear. Lately, seems like always a nice surprise at the creeks.

Ran into a nice teen fishing and he was from Nepal and now living local. Talked for awhile about fishing and he showed me a pic of a nice Channel Cat he had caught on a jig/plastic bait earlier in the day. Fishes this creek alot and told me his goal is catching a long nose Gar in this particular creek. Also included a few pics from walk in and out.Name: DSC02202.jpg

    Nice cat !
    Catfish are fun on ultralight.
They’ll definitely test your drag .
With all the rain we’ve had lately and are due next week , it’ll be awhile before I’ll be fishing it .
Headed to the big reservoir to meet up with my fishing buddy tomorrow.
Going chase some green sunfish. I love those little fish .

I love all fish but the green sunfish here are a nuisance. Lot's of small ones. I feed the White Heron's at the lake. One ate 10 green sunfish yesterday before it had enough and left.

A good trip and nice fish. I like it when I bump into a young person that’s pleasant to talk with and enjoys the sport. Gives me hope for the future of protecting what we so love. And though he doesn’t look poisonous I’ll pass on the snake too.
