Default Ester Line Max lb Test

In looking through line lately, I've noticed that ester lines aren't sold (or readily available at least) in any lb test higher than 2.5 lb. Is there a reason for this? Do the properties of ester not lend themselves to higher lb test lines?

They do not...the line is wiry. The highest rated ester line I have seen was 4# test. I tried it and it was just too hard to manage. I have been fishing ester lines for a number of years now and I love the stuff. I tried a lot of brands before settling on the ester lines from Varivas. I used their Area Super Trout Master Limited Supr Ester in Neo Orange for years then started using the ES 2 Lemoni Ester a couple of years back and that is the only ester line I now use. I have several videos on my YouTube channel discussing ester lines...TroutMagnetMan.

Varivas list the specific gravity of the ester line as 1.35 with line sizes up to 0.5 goh at 2.3lbs

There website also list the Double cross PE (braid) as a combination of ester and PE line available in 0.6 and 0.8 goh at 9.6 & 11.4 lbs with a specific gravity or 1.12.

Super Trout Advance Double Cross PE - VARIVAS

I haven't tried any of it as my JDM rods are only rated up to 0.4 Still playing around with some nylon and other PE lines to find what I like best.

In the PE lines I've used the Area Super Trout advanced x4 and the Avani Salwater x8. I find that the Area Super trout is softer, I've gotten a couple of wind knots trying to use it with to much wind, and the color fades. The Avani is a little stiffer and seems handle casting with wind better for me. I do have some extra spools with nylon on them. the plan is to switch to nylon if I need to due to wind.
