Default St Croix 2022 Redesigned Panfish Series

I just picked up the newly designed St Croix to try it out, and I am more impressed than I thought I would be. I have some JDM stuff so I feel spoiled and have particular tastes, but I also tend to like the St Croix rods and liked the new handle a lot. Its not lightning touch sensitive like some of the more expensive import options but for the money this thing is great.

I picked up the 7' LXF, as I heard this was a particularly sweet rod and was curious what it was like to fish with something a little heavier than an ultralight. It casts the really light stuff surprisingly well and bends deep into the blank, but its snappy and has a little more butt on it from that step up in power (and the faster SC6 graphite). The sensitivity is surprisingly good too, and the handle is sooo much better than the last one. Really hope they take some of this design and make a better version in the next round of "legend elite panfish".

Anyone else picked up one of the new models? Any particular stand out models for you guys?

I love my new SC Panfish rods .
I particularly love the 5’4” Ultralight model
It’s the most sensitive rod I’ve ever owned .
The handle had to grow on me , but just today I was thinking of how much I’m enjoying fishing this rod with the new handle .
I’m using the rod mainly for fishing flies and 1/80th jigs above a 1/16 drop shot weight .
I can feel every little piece of bottom , and when a fish takes the fly , I feel the thump .
I have become addicted to the thump .
    I also own the 5’10 light Trout series , a 5’ UL panfish and a 6’ UL panfish .

Thinking I want a shorter dock shooter from this lineup too, any stand out models for that?

I would think the 5’4” ULF model would work for that .
I used mine to shoot a cast to keep it low during this wind we’ve been experiencing lately .
The Trout series are the same blanks , but offer a more variety of lengths and powers .

Thanks for the report, S_C! I'm eyeing the 5' Moderate as we speak and you are right, the handle looks awesome and I love the blank color (greenish gold) that's been missing from anything out of Asia these days. Its easier to pair with older reels from a few years past and I've been needing a 1 pc rod in my arsenal for trekking the local ponds. Cheers!

The paint job is really nice. You can still see the lines wrapping horizontally down the rod when the light hits it just right. I agree, it’s a looker.

Disappointed is the word!! Stopped by both BassPro and Sportsman’s Warehouse in town and they both out of the 5 feet or even the 5-4. SW has 3 rods left: two 6-4 and one 6-9 which I like the feel of it but gave it a pass because I just spent money last year for a JDM Tict Rockin Finesse 6-9 rod. I’ll keep on checking though.

That's a rough ride, sorry to hear they weren't in stock yet. Inventory has been tough these last two years.
Thanks LVSpinfisher1 thanked you for this post
