Default New Presso 21 1000 question.

I just took my new Daiwa Presso out of the box. I ordered from Plat and shipping was super fast. I love the size and looks. The ball bearings all over are A1. The problem is I’ve played with it for a couple of hours and it is really rough. It’s not grinding but more like vibrating at the top and bottom of every rotation. There is also some sound. It’s like my Shimano c14 does with 15 years of use no servicing. It’s like I can feel the cogs in the drive twice every rotation. I suspect it may be packed with heavy grease but im wary of a new reel at this price point right out of the box. Any ideas? Should I try to return it or hope it smoothes out or try to get some grease out or oil in.

It should not be like that. I know many who purchased this reel....including myself...and it is as smooth as butter. I would contact Plat. But having said that I don't know if they will allow you to return it. For a decade I have ordered thousands of dollars worth of gear from them and never received a bad item. But I know that is subject to happen sooner or later. Contact them immediately and tell them the issue. If you paid with PayPal and they do not resolve the issue you can always get your money back from PayPal.

    Regards

Thanks for the reply. Lurked here and learned a lot from you and others. And enjoy your videos to no end. I’ve never had a problem with any jdm item out of hundreds of orders either. I buy quite often with JDM TacklleHeaven and their customer service is spectacular. Plat has been amazing. I can’t understand how they can ship to the US from Japan quicker than the USPS can ship one state over. These Japanese venders don’t mess around. I know it’s buyer beware and I’m not going to jump off a cliff if things don’t work out but I’ve had so much fun with the gear I have picked up there it’s still worth it.

I got a bad reel from JDM TacklleHeaven once, sent them an email and they had me a new one on the way before I even sent the old one back. Haven't had to return anything from plat but my expierance with JDm companies has been superb. Scott

Also to confirm Randy's statement I own 2 of the 2017 Presso and 2 of the new ones and have bought stella and exist, Presso is hands down the smoothest reel I've ever had. Scott
