I have not experienced any issues with my Abu. I do however whole heartedly enjoy my JDM Daiwa reels.

Welcome to the Japanese (Dang Good Stuff) Madness pool. I have the Majorcraft FAX 632L and love it for Panfish and Temperate Bass as well. It has become the rod I take to my daughters house in VA and sore lip the residents in her small lake. Nothing over 12in on Crappie, a 14in Bass every now and then and a pile of Gills and Crackers always await my offerings. Perfect rod for the waters. As far as JDM lines, the braided selection is awesome and I think you will find the Varivas products up to snuff for anything you might encounter. The Blue Moon Fluorocarbon is a nice middle ground line if you need some stretch but want great sensitivity and the sinking ability to fish light jigs deep. As far as the ABU reel, I have one as well and really like it, no issues with the drag or anti reverse. ABU also makes some great rods you have probably seen mentioned here on the stickies. It’s been 4 years since I started using this equipment and 9 rod and 9 reels later I am still headed down that fun factor road!

I have that same exact setup and it is fantastic to fish with. We have monster redear here on Lake Barkley and battling a 1.5-2lb fish is a real treat on this setup.
