It’s an expensive situation.
During my trip to Arkansas my wife was my net girl while I was fishing. She absolutely fell in love with all that trout fishing entails….except of course actually fishing. The scenery, the water, and especially the beauty of the fish itself. On the way back home she kept telling me she wanted to start trout fishing. Well I just listened and didn’t think anything would come of it. When I got home from the knee surgery and was going through the mail there was an envelope from TWRA…..she had herself a lifetime license….LOL. So I’m thinking she is serious about this. About 2 days ago she wants to talk about gear. So I tell her as soon as I am allowed more time on my feet we will go to Walmart or Bass Pro and get her set up with a nice UL setup. She informs me that won’t do. She wants the same gear I use…..as she says “I want the Japanese stuff”….LOL. So I’m thinking oh man this could cost me. Well I happen to have 2 unopened Daiwa Ballistic FW 1000 reels on the shelf. Ok she can have one of those and it will make her happy. Now for the rod…I have lots of rods but don’t want to give any of my current rods up….yeah I know seems selfish…..but I’m sure for those that are married know once it becomes hers it is hers…and you can’t use it anymore…..LOL. So I’ve decided to get her a Fine Tail Stream rod for river fishing and a Fine Tail Area stage rod for low flow fishing. She is already looking at Airbnb around Mountain Home on the White River for a fall trip. As the saying goes….Be careful what you wish for, you may get it….LOL.

Side note: get her a fly rod, too. Women often pick up casting faster than men. She might like it.

Sounds like she is starting to wear the waders in that family

Wait till she starts going without you! My buddy bought a boat and took his wife fishing a few times. Within a couple of months she was going alone when he was at work. She wound up putting more hours on the boat than he did.
Sadly she is gone now.
Hey Randy,
That’s awesome, having your wife with you sharing the memories and wonderful outdoors, don’t get much better than that. Just wondering what took her so long? Lol

What about her attire ?
Maybe they will bite this one……
Well she has a lot of so called technical fishing clothes…she hikes and finds that to be cooler. But she will have to have waders…boots. All in all it’ll be a win win…she takes up trout fishing…and I get to book a lot more trout trips…LOL.
