    Default First JDM Rod

Finally pulled the trigger on my first JDM rod. Didn't want to go off the deep end for my first rod so I got a reasonably priced rod. I know Randy G gave this rod a favorable review and I trust his judgment. Hopefully it gets here in about 2 weeks from Digitaka. The rod is the Major Craft Finetail FAX-632SUL.

Great rod and for the money you won't beat it. I've got that exact same rod and I've caught catfish, carp and BIG redear. You will love it!

I have this rod in the Light rating and it is so much fun to fish with. Use a good quality line, a reel with a good drag and hold on and have fun. The SUL will not be a broom handle so don't set the hook like a champ, let the soft tip and action do the work for you. Sharp hooks help and the rod bend will show off nicely on hard pulling Panfish. Pics of course on your first catch with the new weapon.

I'm excited about getting it. Will compare it to my St. Croix Panfish Series UL to see how much more sensitive the JDM rods are.

A new reel is in the future. I currently have a Daiwa Revros LT 1000 with new Varivas Ester 2.3# on it and a Shimano Nasci 1000 with Trout SOS 2#. Probably going with a Daiwa Ballastic or Luvias, but have to cash in a lot of soda bottles first.

That Ester is trying my patience.

I was going to try both the Twitch Master and the new Esterline. It's supposedly more manageable than the standard Ester.

Congrats on your new rod. I never liked ester much. The only one I liked at all was made by Sunline and it had a blue tint to it in sunlight. I am all about the twitch master. It is my go to line right now.
