Default TenRyu Rayz Spectra Shines On.

With all the flooding the past couple of weeks there are not a lot of places for me to fish. They cut the flow at Normandy down to 600 CFS..which is still a lot. But I bought the Tenryu Rayz Spectra for this very purpose...along with the Forest Spoons. In a little over 2 hours today I had 40 trout using the Forest MIU Abalone Trout Spoon. The rod really shines in the current. Using the 3# test Twitch Master line is also a plus. One of the trout was an 18 inch brood stocker....made my day. I cannot recommend these spoons and this rod enough..if you fish for trout in curent. Now there is a downside to this. I am still in the learning curve fishing spoons for trout in current. One thing I have learned is if you cast upstream your chances increase greatly for you losing the spoon on the retrieve....hanging on the bottom. I cast straight out across the river and reel slowly as the spoon drifts down stream staying in contact with the spoon. And even then you could still hang up but it is less likely. I lost 3 spoons today...and we all know what they cost. Coming home I was thinking about that and how I had caught 40 trout....one of them a trophy...and I was out 18 bucks. I asked myself was it worth it..the answer...you darn right it was worth it. The flow will eventually get back down to where I will be twitching a Trout Magnet but I have to tell you I love fishing those spoons.

    Regards

Beautiful trout and a pretty piece of water. Those spoons ARE expensive little buggers!

Just got 4 of those spoons from Chris. I figure that's one or two trips to the 'hooch for stockers. At least we can buy more, unlike the gekkabijin jig heads - I battled some angry wasps to get one out of an overhanging branch last week. Only got stung once, but it was worth it.

Trout fishing using those spoons looks like fun. Good catch and hopefully this weather will stabilize. They are releasing all the excess water up here it’s is headed that way!
