To really hijack this thread, it's hard to admit DBD was on the cutting edge of fishing revolution with his telescopic pole.
Capps and Coleman, a renowned crappie fishing team has found themselves left in the dust by the use of single pole livescope fishing.
They revealed last week that they have been practicing using JDM telescopic rods to single pole jig.
One uses a 16 footer, and one uses a 20 foot to stay further away from fish. They marvel at how light, senstive and well made the JDM rods were. They replaced the end section, described as thin as a hair, with a section of a BnM pole to keep from breaking the tip.
The price was around $599 each according to the duo.

I have been wondering if pro crappie anglers would ever discovery the sensitivity of JDM rods. But of course they all use long rods. Do you have a link to an article or something that they talk about this? Really curious as to what type rod they have selected.

I was mistaken on the length of the longer rod, as evidenced by the title of this interview.

I have a 6'6" Imprimi also and don't care for the action much, reminds me of the buggy whip type ultralight rods of the 80's Eagleclaw. I only used it a hand full of times. Thinking about selling it.

I listened to the link above, and it sounds like keiryu or possibly herabuna.

The way he's fishing it (breaking it down every time he hooks a fish and then extending it again) is not the way those poles were intended to be fished. It's obviously working for him, but that's gotta wear down the joints a lot faster.

I thought the same. I watched a video of a British guy fishing with a Japanese angler in Japan using those to catch a very tiny fish. The rods used in that video were at the 1,500 dollar mark. One thing for sure....some crappie tourney anglers are going to try some of those rods.
