That waxworm looks like it will do well with trout...

Going to pick up a few packs of the waxworms as well. Thanks for the recommendation.

They are a rascal to get rigged right but I prefer the decoy head with the little keeper for them and once you line it up right it stays put about the whole time with little adjustment. Seems like a lot of people like them for trout but I got them mainly for gills. Took me a while to commit since they are so pricey and they were never on sale but seems worth it so far to me.

I forgot to add on the waxworm that I only used one of the first trip and stopped fishing after I broke off. I feel certain you could catch 100 plus fish on one waxworm. They seem indestructible and as far as colors go I have only used the cream color. They do make it in green as well but I have never tried them. I have some of the Nikko worms and the Nikko caddis as well but haven’t given them a good shake yet.
Just wiggled my new Eradicator 79ULS. It feels much better composed and maybe just a bit faster than the Rockin Finesse (could be the result of better composure), but it bends more and smoother. I was surprised by that last observation given the blank taper – looks much more aggressive and thicker in the butt section than the Finesse. Looks quite promising.

My first trip I used the Abu Garcia Eradicator 6.10 Light. I teamed the rod up with a Daiwa Presso, 3lb Varivas Twitch Master, a decoy jighead, and a nikko waxworm. This combo brought 40 plus fish to hand in 45 ish minutes. It was a lot of fun and the real stars of the day was the nikko waxworm and the Varivas Twitch Master line.

My second trip was with the Abu Garcia Eradicator Slow Taper 6.7. Again I teamed it up with the same jighead and nikko waxworm but opted for the Abu Garcia Theta as the reel teamed up with some pink Daiwa braid. This trip was not quite as productive with the cooler temps but the fish were a little bigger and the waxworm still did a good job. The cool thing about these baits is they are very similar to the zman baits in the fact that they are very stretchy and durable. I bought several different Nikko baits and the only one I have fished much is the waxworm. I enjoy my trout magnets but these are pretty cool baits. The gills weren’t any real monsters but they were plenty of fun for a couple quick outings.

If you can get them to bite on that Wax worm then they would probably like the Berkley PowerBait Power Honey Worm.

I have used the power honey worms and they are good baits as well. These Nikko wax worms feel real to me and stretch. The stretch part is what got me to bite on them and so far I like them quite a bit. Good suggestion on another good wax worm imitation.

So many things to try this season. The Nikkos sound like a great bait.
