Default Saq Sas hooks and jigs

Thanks to Alfahawk and Tattoodrew I got my hands on some jigs to see these jigs for myself. I pulled a few of my favorite hooks to make some comparisons. Even with my 60+ year old eyes I could see the wire diameter was thinner than any of the hooks I had, even the Orient Sun which was my favorite panfish hook. Despite the thin wire diameter these hooks are sturdy and very sharp. The hooks have a wider gap. A #8 has a gap like a#6, #6 like a #4, etc. Under UV light the hook practically disappears. Time to get inside one of these jigs so I broke out my lighter to melt the head off so I just had the hook. Due to the plating process with these it took twice as long as a regular head to melt and fall off. Down to the basement to see if this weird looking hook would fit some of my custom molds. I only checked five but was delighted that they actually fit in two which was fine with me. Got back upstairs and ordered some of these hooks from Digitaka. Was only able to get 10 packs so it looks like I'll have something to work with. Also ordered some glow heads as well in a couple sizes. Anything black wasn't in stock. Now waiting on the weather to cooperate to do some further testing. Stay tuned, not done yet but really like what I'm seeing so far.

I have about 7 different brands of JDM light game jig heads........all of them good. But the Gekkabijin jig heads are are above them all. Of course that is my opinion. The Saq Sas hook penetrates if a fish is just sniffing around. I sure hope they will go back into production as soon as the pandemic is over.

I looked and could only find an 8 pk of size 8 I believe and said was out of stock. Could find the jigheads but not the hooks. Here is what if found:

DIGITAKA! - Japan Fishing Tackle Store

    I'll look a little harder.

I wanted more when I was placing the order from Digitaka but I must have ordered all they had. Shipping costs are high so I ordered the jigs as well to balance it out. Hook fit in a minnow head mold and a pill head mold. Interesting part is both heads weigh 1 gram. The pill mold I can add a crane swivel so will be making some of those when the hooks arrive.

Sounds like you have a good plan! Hope it works out as we could have a domestic source and at least some American labor in the finished product!
