I just got as a gift from my son a nice looking Daiwa 'Laguna' 7 ft. ultralight spinning rod, rated for 1-4 lb line. I'm trying to find the right size reel (weight) to match with the rod to have them balanced out. Someone suggested a size 2000 in a Shimano or Daiwa reel. I'll be using 2 lb test mono. Does anyone have this rod? If so what reel do you have on it? Thanks in advance.
Not exactly the same. I have the 6' ML version of the Laguna. It's a fairly sensitive rod, and very light in the hand. I like it. I'd stick a Diawa Fuego LT on it. That's my favorite reel. A Pfleuger president is a good, cheaper option, but the spool is a larger diameter on the Fuego and it casts farther.
