Default 7'5" Lunakia - Suggestions and a review?

Hi All. I think I have the U/L pretty much covered with my 632 Lunakia and TSS rod. What I think I’m missing is a more all around rod that can do many things well, and some things great. I have considered the 610 Lunakia, but think it may be a little too close to what I already have. I am thinking of the 7’5” Luna, which is rated at MMH with a tubular tip. It is still pretty light in weight, and would be easy to fish long sessions with. This rod will be used primarily for stream fishing, occasional lake bank fishing and would be a go to when water conditions are high and heavier jigs/hard baits are needed. Here are some of the applications:

    Higher water conditions.

Float/Slip Bobbers. This is for very rocky bottom shallow water conditions, and also for moss/stream snot conditions (most of the summer) which require the lures to be easily kept off the bottom and still allow a nice natural slow drift over the target areas.
A rod good for wade fishing (most of the time) and bank fishing. Prime Bank fishing areas are on slower moving and deeper sections of the stream, and near shore are guarded by a lot of downed wood. There are plenty of fish in there, but the longer reach of the rod and the ability to easily handle a float with jig or fly is a must, otherwise a frustration of no fun fishing hang-ups, etc.

Can handle floats/slips, hard baits, small spoons, light jigs 1/32 (1/64 jig with TM) and heavier.

Will be used on pans, crappie, smallies, put and take trout, and in the bank fishing areas small cats are possible. I realize the heavier action will give up some of the fun factor with the smaller fish, but I want it to still be enjoyable.
I am interested if anyone has experience with the 752 Luna, or something similar. I’m trying to avoid being over gunned, but at the same time not giving up too much fun. A compromise. Again, an all around rod.
Thanks for any feedback or ideas.
    Bob

I think you should just get both: the LK6102S-MLT and the LK752S-MMHT, just so you have all possibilities covered.

Seriously though, I have been looking at the same rod for some time. Since you already have the LK632S-LMLS, the 7'5" rod seems to make sense, for all the reasons you listed.

My budget dictates buying my next rod in 2021, so January 1 will be New Rod's Day for me.

I still have a big hole in my rod collection, and now I have a kayak. I'm fishing for crappie, bluegills, and small trout in ponds and small lakes. So the 6'10" Lunakia is better for my situation. But I'm going for small fish in more open water with little/no current. I want a sensitive rod that is fun with small fish. If I start catching bigger fish then I might be coming back for the LK752S-MMHT.

If you follow through, please post a review. I would love to hear how it works out for you.

If it were me I would buy a 7.4 triple cross for drop shot and float fishing and then get the 6.10 Corto for the other applications... of course you could sub the 6.10 Lunakia for the Corto as well... I drop shot with a 7.4 Corto but the 7.4 triple cross would fit the bill as well... food for thought...

Love your menu! Now I'm getting dizzy going back and forth between the Tenryu and Olympic Co websites. If I don't shut the computer off, I'll never make it to the lake this weekend.

I respect a man who plans out his rod purchases.

I did it! I managed to wait until 2021 for my next rod purchase! Just bought the Lunakia LK6102S-MLT after thinking a lot about the 7'5" version. This rod will be my bluegill-crappie-small trout rod. I love the idea of the 7.5 Lunakia, but looking at my fishing history, I just don't need that much rod. For me, 2021 will be the year of the Lunakia LK6102S-MLT, chasing panfish around the lakes of northern California.

But I am already planning the next rod purchase! Maybe this summer or fall...

Thank you, Randy! With your videos and with Chris Stewart's help, I feel very confident in my purchase. The Lunakia is going to help make 2021 a very fun year!

    Congrats on the pickup.

What reel are you pairing it with?
