Above is the JDM Line chart prepared by member Yodie, if the link works. New iPad Pro and still learning.

I as well picked up a few things... I am not super fond of braid in general so I opted for other choices... I did however pick up one spool of braid I will use in the surf fishing for pompano on vacation... I am excited to try out these new lines when they come in

VARIVAS America has another sale going on, Dec 14-25. 20% off all orders of VARIVAS JDM line. Not as good a deal as their recent 1-Day sale, but a sale nevertheless.

First off, thanks to Gillfishn for the post notice of the Varivas sale in December. I took advantage of the deep discounts and ordered a few new strings to spool up on the reels in the stable.

Both of these lines come highly rated by board member Yodie, I posted a link to his chart above. Let’s start with the PE. This orange braid is labeled Super Premium and Ultra Fine. I am a fan of braided JDM lines, it has just taken some time to get used to the super small diameters. The orange color is definitely easy to see, however this Mark edition has black marks every 2 feet, which gives it a mottled effect. Not a deal breaker but noticeable. It is super fine like the Premium Sunline and Daiwa lines. I spooled it up on the 2020 Luvias 2000 on a spare red spool.

It almost looks pink with the integrated black marks . Hooked this horse up to the ABU Realfinesse 6.10L and took it to the lake on a recent bank fishing trip. 1g jig and some crappie plastics, the line on this rod/reel casted on par with the other two premium lines. Super far and super sensitive it is.....however...with the 4 strand braid I got some line guide noise. Not much, but much more than the other two premium lines listed. This line, being on the spare spool, will move over to the Ballistic FW and go to another rod. Hook sets were basically automatic on this soft tipped rod and a super sharp jig head hook. On the lake, pretty much a bite was a fish with this setup.

Next up, the nylon. Now I am not a fan of nylon, once I found 2lb Nanofil super line several years ago, been hard to go back to the stretch of nylon. I have tried a few JDM nylons, with no luck, and so on Yodies recommendation, I tried another one. Va Crappie Man had a few local trips with this line and said he liked it well, so I spooled it up on a Daiwa Ballistic FW 1000 reel and tied on a couple crappie flies for the upcoming crappie bank trip . On the Triple Cross 7.3, the line was used for float fishing duty. Casting, this line was excellent and behaved better than regular monofilament. It feels a little denser and that shows in casting. Bite detection was not really tested as I was float fishing, but I did stick a couple nice crappie with this setup and the line performed flawlessly. No line twist so far on one trip and not much detectable stretch. I think I may have found a new line for float fishing for Gills next spring. I will put some more seat time on the line, but so far I am a fan.

Net result of the afternoon Crappie trip/new line test trip was a success. Va Crappie dude took home a nice mess of fish!! I agree with Yodies assessment of these two lines, definitely worth considering.

That Varivas Twitch Master is some good line so far... I as well got in on the discount sale and picked up 4 spools of it and kind of wished I had gotten more... I stuck a few casting the Rockin Finesse with the twitch master line and it worked very well... I will say I was envious of the Abu that Stan was using... I am not a fan of braid at all but I have to agree that IMO the Sunline PE (pink) and Daiwa PE (pink) have both been the best...
