I might have missed it somewhere, but is the spool support the only place that has a bushing on the airity? Just got one yesterday, nice feeling/looking reel.

That is correct. A guy I follow in Japan just had his super tuned....which included replacing the bushing with a bearing.

If anyone will know, it'll be someone here. Last year there were rumors of Daiwa coming out with a new Presso rod and reel. Well they came out with a new rod, but not a new reel. Any word and if/when they will come out with a new Presso reel? It's been four years now since their last one.

No word and probably will not be any news until a new one just shows up in stock or for pre-sale.....if at all.

There have been significant delays with rollouts of new products. In some cases, they even had a line-up updated and webpage released with some technical details (for example, their highest end seabass rods were much anticipated, and Daiwa ended up taking down the webpage eventually). I've been asking a few webstores about restocking of current Shimano and Daiwa rods, and they don't even have an estimate in many cases. Hopefully, things will change soon.

Speaking of shortages, Digitaka doesn't seem to have many rods at all. I've wanted to pull the trigger on a 6'9 Tict Ice Cube rod but there's no stock.

I really wonder how long this void will last?

Been fishing some this Spring, just not as much as normal that is for sure. Recently picked up a new Diawa reel, the 18 Caldia in the 1000 size.

A looker she is, black and silver. I took a look at all my Daiwa reels and noticed a pattern…..all black and gold or orange…. mostly all of them the same. I do have a Gekajibin with some racing red and silver, but this little guy caught my eye, mainly due to being on Sale from Plat. When she arrived I spooled her up with some Varivas Braid, and off to the lake we went.

Wow…I like this look. Well after two trips I soon learned I liked the reel but this braid did not make it through complete trips.

Grrrr…. Now I am an avid braid guy, used it for years but this line did not act like premium braid. A knot way down in the spool resulted in loosing about 1/4 of the spool after the first trip. Next trip it broke 3 times….twice while casting a 1.2g jig and plastic. Never had a line break while casting. So it promptly came off and I loaded up the Varivas Twitch Master Nylon.

Yep, much better. The drag on the reel is smooth, not loud which I like, and the line handled anything that bit….even some non target species.

Drag and line not found lacking on this guy.
With a lower gear ratio, most all the same specs as the new 21 Caldia, and a different color scheme, I think I have a winner in this weapon. I may pick up the 21 later, but for now this one has a place in my rotation.

Been wondering where you’ve been. Love those chunky Gills. Never tried that line but sometimes we get JDM gear that doesn’t quite work out. Of coarse that can be costly. Nice looking reel....glad to hear you like it.
