Considering purchasing the 6'10" Lunakia and started looking for a reel to pair with it. At its price point, I was looking at the 2020 Luvias. Are there any other contenders in its price range that should be considered? The Ballistic is no longer in stock at TW and its price is on par with the Luvias elsewhere.

For those that use them, how are y'all enjoying the Zaion knobs?

I've been using Zaion knobs for about 6 years now...I love em. The 20 Luvias 2000 pairs very nice with that rod.

Nice way to test it out. I bet those green ones lit up the drag....how did it sound and perform compared to the Daiwas?

The drag is super smooth, you have solid/connected feel throughout when spin the handle. It feel a little geary compare to hollow feel from Daiwa. I like Daiwa drag better, I can set it a little bit tighter and don’t have to worry when fish try to make a run (ATD drag). On the other hand, the drag sound on shimano can turn some heads, it is pretty loud.

I have a couple Zaion knobs and a Caldia full bearing kit set to arrive today. I'm not sure if I will be able to notice much improvement, but it will be a fun little experiment nonetheless. I believe it is +5BB with the full kit. I'll follow what a few others have done here and put a plastic bag over the reel so that clip doesn't fly away.

I absolutely love the Zaion knobs. That bearing kit will be a great upgrade.

For those that have tuned their reels, are you reapplying bearing grease before putting the reel back together? If so, what brand are you using?

Two schools of thought on that. Some prefer dry others use oil. I do both and have not noticed any difference. On the bearings I oil I use the Ardent bearing oil. Since I’m laid up for 3 months going to send some reels in for cleaning and some super tuning. The lubricants that will be used are all synthetic and supposed to lower inertia. Will report back how that comes out.
