Does anyone own or have fished both the 6'10" Lunakia and the 6'10" Eradicator? I was thinking about picking up a bigger fish rod and with birthday and holiday season around the corner, these two are on my radar.

I'm super happy with the 6'7" eradicator, and imagine the 6'10 variant will perform well. The Lunakia also gets rave reviews around here though. Is it a far superior rod to the eradicator, or are the margins pretty thin?

    Thanks!

I cannot speak for the Lunakia as it is not in my stable but I do have the 6.10 ABU Real Finesse Eradicator and it has whooped up on several nice fish just in the last two weeks.

Here is an 18in Large Head from a couple weeks ago and then last week a TARP White Crappie gave the 6.10 another run.

And if you notice on both fish, I use Braided line with no leader. Water clarity is no issue for the Yellows and Pinks of the JDM PE lines, so I tie straight to the jig and the rod does well.

I have contemplated buying the 6.10 Lunakia many times, but I am afraid I might be duplicating rods if I do....as I feel like it is just as good a rod as the ABU. It may be even be a little better, but I feel they may be very similar, and I am very happy with the ABU, a proven rod to me at least. I read and make notes of all Lunakia reports as interest is still there. Good luck on your decision, I do not think you will be disappointed with either.

The Diplomat Extreme arrived today. It does not have the Carbon Micro Guides that I mentioned in the original post. Going back and looking at their website the Fuji CMG guides only come on the 6’ 3” UL model. The rod is listed as a regular action. For Japanese area trout rods regular usually means slow....but not in this case. The solid tip is the softest solid tip I have purchased. I now own 6 area trout rods....would be 7 but I gave the Iprimi to a young 12 year old gentleman to fish with. We all worry about duplicating rods and so far I have been lucky. Out of all the area trout rods I have bought out of Japan they are all different. I don’t know what to make of the action on this rod....of course I’m chomping at the bit to get it out and fish it. The build is great and the cork grip is a nice change....Not a lot of area trout rods have cork....unlike their stream trout rods which all seem to have cork and or wood grips. The rod weighs in at 47 grams on my scale....just what their website says. In the hand it feels like you’re holding nothing but air. The butt of the rod.....7.4mm, is slightly larger than the Slow Taper Special. The tip is solid at .83mm. It has 8 guides, all Fuji Torzite. Next week is looking great weather-wise to get out and try it out. This should make an excellent bluegill and trout rod. Not sure I would want to tangle too much with Smallies like the one I caught on the Slow Taper. After I fish it I will give a good review. Here are a few pics.

I do like the looks of that handle, definitely different. Maybe a bucket trip tomorrow afternoon to the VFW lake to test it out? Is the rod blank two tone in color, tip and butt section different or is it the light? And what does the infinity symbol and potential blanks lettering mean? Just curious.

Not sure it means anything....or anything we understand....LOL. I remember Chris discussing why they use certain names....when he asked his wife about it....who is Japanese....I think she replied that is was too complicated to explain in English and he would not understand.....at least that’s what I remember. I’ve been playing around with the rod all afternoon. Pulled out every rod I own to compare tip firmness to this rod. This thing is Uber soft in the tip. The color is a very pale maroon on the butt and the rest of the blank is dark gray. It looks nothing like the colors on their webpage.....which is not uncommon. Other than the grip and reel seat not a lot of Wow factor. I have to say it does scream trout though.

    Regards

Has anyone encountered these rods or any info about fishing impressions with them:

    Product Lineup - Morris Co.,Ltd. ?

I am particularly interested in TFL-55RX model (and TFL-55RX-Ti). Thanks in advance.

That really is an interesting reel seat, Randy. Really looks pretty and very functional. Can’t wait to hear the on the water report!

PS The tip is interesting as well. Looks like a flyrod tip.

She and I have been over that ground a few times now, since that is clearly not an answer that would satisfy anyone with any curiosity. To boil a few half hour explanations down to a few sentences, first, whatever it says (particularly if it's in English) don't take it literally. It doesn't really mean anything specific. As she explains, the Japanese are a very visual people - the writing is pictographs (you look at the character for "school" and you are supposed to see a child inside a building. The character for tree looks a bit like a tree, the character for woods looks like several trees and the character for forest looks like even more trees.). Instructions almost always come with extensive diagrams.

Often the names of rods, or in this case the "infinite potential blanks" are meant to create a mental image, a very pleasant visual image in your mind's eye. The name of one of the rods I used to carry translated as "gentle breeze." If you take it literally you wonder "what's that got to do with fishing?" If you think of it as the company intended, you picture yourself by a quiet stream on a summer afternoon, the birds are chirping, a couple butterflies go past, there are puffy white clouds in a bright blue sky, and yes, there is a gentle breeze that feels oh, so nice on a day that is just starting to get warm. You don't have a care in the world and you don't even care if you catch fish. But you do catch fish. Ahh, life is good.

Infinite potential blanks - just think of the fish you will catch with this rod and how the soft tip will dance with every head shake. Walter will rise from the depths, inhale your spoon, and turn before he realizes his mistake. The soft tip will keep just enough tension on the line so the scary sharp hook will prevent him from throwing it when he jumps. And yes, he'll jump - probably several times before you gently slide him into your net. If only it was a tournament day, he'd surely win first prize. You could catch any fish in the lake with this rod, even with your favorite 1.2 pound test line. It has infinite potential.

That's kind of what it means.
