If you want wow at a given diameter, I'd look at Varivas Avani SW Finesse 0.2, YGK Lonfort RealDtex 0.3, or Sunline PE Egi Ult HS8 0.3. They will all be different, but about the same thickness, despite the 0.2 PE designation by Varivas. SW Finesse may be the same as Infinity X8 mentioned by Alphahawk and Yodie, just different color and length options, though I don't know exactly. If you want "wow, how thin that PE is", that's a whole different story.

Been fishing almost exclusively PE, lost count how many kinds I've tried. Won't be going back to monofilament, but I'm in saltwater.

Although I must admit haven’t used any Ester since my knee replacement. But I expect to when the bluegill stack up in the dead lock next month. Hope you’re catching lots of fish.

I’m in and out on here, just posting now on things I feel like my experiences could help out.

I’ve switched to 99% Twitch Master or Blue Moon, with only one spool left of braid, 2lb Nanobraid.

I have bought and tested up to 8lb in the Twitch Master and it is excellent for throwing my bigger bunny jigs and kastmasters from shore below the dams here on my one bass JDM rod or the big 7’5” Lunakia.

All right bought the infinity .2+.3 which by diameter is a wow, but that being said, I don't like it. I just don't like the feel of braid, although I will admit it's definately a big improvement in American braids I've tried. I also bought a spool of 3lb. twitch master but haven't tried it yet. For me I'm still sold on 2# gamma panfish. I know for the purist like Randy it doesn't cut the mustard because it breaks at 4+ but it casts great and I just like the feel , even though it doesn't have the sensitivty of the no stretch lines. Hasve any of you die hard JDM guy's tried the gamma ? I primarily now days " snipe " crappie with livescope and for precise placement of my jig the gamma works better and it's the only application that the tiny micro guides in my high end JDM rods that doen't work as well as I would like. Keep in mind I don't cast but shoot the jig like I'm dock shooting in open water. I have a friend who is a big tournament guy and I'm not that's using Huckabee rods and out fishes me because he's more precise in nhis shot's using the bigger eye's . Thought's? Scott

I would think a decent small diameter fluorocarbon would excel with what you’re wanting to do. The sinking nature of fluoro will help keep your bait where the fish are when you shoot right on them, it will take line float and drag out of the equation quite a bit by using a tiny diameter, sinking line.

Suffix makes an ice fluorocarbon that’s hi-vis orange that’s decent at a great price.

The Sunline BMS fluoro in 2.5 or 3 would be an excellent choice if your ok ordering from overseas.

And of course there’s the new Varivas Blue Moon Ajing fluorocarbon, in a 2, 2.5 or 3, but it’s out of stock in the domestic market right now, but I’ve seen available in the JDM shops.

I think a lot of folks misunderstand about my line choice. I am not necessarily a purist about it. I just do not like the US market line rating system. Gamma is a great example. I used Gamma in 2# test years ago...its at .150mm and breaks 4.9 pounds. Using a Trout Magnet on a 1 gram jig head I need a very fine and limp line to get any distance. We all need to use the line that is suitable for what we are doing. I fish open water...love the challenge of getting large fish in on light lines....so I can get away with using very light lines. As Yodie stated I think the Blue Moon would be right up your alley. It is hard for me to see but I do love fishing with it. I only use PE for one specific method for trout. The Twitch Master I also use for fishing hard hard baits for trout but I am sure come the winter white bass run I will be using it there also. Yodie is as well versed on JDM lines as anyone I know as he has tried a lot of them...so I pay attention when he talks lines. Stan and VA Crappie are well versed also.

I myself have a tough time liking braid and I have tried lots of different braids and I am just not fond of the feel of braid. I have 3 spools of braid I can tolerate and they are Varivas Super Trout Infinity x8 #.2, Varivas High Grade x8 #.6 (beach fishing), and Sunline Small Game PE-HG .2

I prefer nylon and my favorite now is the 3lb Twitch Master which is my do it all line so far. I will say when I was using US lines the green 2lb Maxima was by far my favorite but I feel like the Varivas Twitch Master blows it out of the water. I have the 3lb Blue Moon and it is a pretty good line. I am wanting to try the 2lb in it and I will but for me the 3lb Twitch Master just feels and works the best overall for me.

x 2 on not liking the feel of braid. I forgot to mention a very interesting quirk of the .2 and .3 infinity x8 is that despite being the smallest diameter line I have personaly used when using livescope I could SEE the line out to about 15-20 ft. and less, clear as day on my screen. Blowed my mind watching a slight curve in the line to the jig as I slowly reeled it back. Now please don't think I'm saying that the infinity is bad, is in fact 10 times better than any braid I've ever used. I just don't like the feel of braid. On a side note spooled up a reel with 3# twitch master late today and did like the way it felt but no fish cooperated in the very short time I fished it so more to come on that. Maybe someone should look at tying jigs with the PE or something if I could see line the diameter of a human hair on livescope. Might make jigs glow like christmas bulbs . Scott

Braid is still and will probably be my favorite line to use for my style of fishing, but I have tried most of the aforementioned lines, US and JDM and the Twitch Master and Blue Moon Fluorocarbon are great lines for certain applications. “We all need to fish the line that is suitable for what we are doing”…..true words spoke by Randy. He fishes open water….I fish very little open water, mainly fish brush, bushes, and rocky creek beds. Ester lines in these places, nope, tried it and all I gained was knot tying practice. The sensitivity of braid on a tight line with JDM rods is unparalleled. Hungry fish bites feels like a freight train but nibblers and tickers get the same surprise solid hook set and sore lip. The premium Ultra fine diameter braids cast like a dream and do have coast to coast distance, especially with the small diameter guides on most JDM rods. Guide noise is reduced with these braids as well. I have used the Blue Moon on my last two trips, one boat trip vertical jigging deep brush for Gills and a shallow creek bed trip for any species that would bite. Once I got the line strung properly on the rod, missed a guide, it was great. Fast sinking and good bite detection. I used the 3lb and could pull some of the light wire jigs free from brush or rocks. I did not encounter any big bullies and will report when I do but do feel confident the Blue Moon will perform well. I think you will like the Varivas products and hope you report back your findings.

I'm looking at a new line to put on my rod. I do a bunch of micro baits (trout magnet, other 1/64th ounce jigs, etc. ), and am going to fish for both panfish and trout. Any suggestions? I've heard a lot of good things about the blue moon fluorocarbon in 2lb, but at the same time I don't want anything that will break too easily.
