It breaks at 2.3 pounds consistently. I’ve tested it on a Bouz Drag checker dozens of times. It’s knot strength is superb. Castability is superb. I have tussled with several 3 pound catfish and it holds up to them. It is not a line I would use for trout fishing due to the color. It is fluorocarbon so it sinks…which is why I have it on my reels. A 1.5 gram jig head can get down to 23 feet pretty quick casting. The polyester line I use breaks a lot easier than the Blue Moon yet I land 14-17 inch Spotted bass with it…the Blue Moon will give me more cushion with those fish more so than the polyester. For me the answer is no…it does not break easily.

Because we're in trout season here in CT, I think that a line that's good for trout is a big factor. Do you have any suggestions

The Twitch Master line is great for trout in a stream. I use an FC leader with it. I have reels with 3# and 4# test. Very low stretch nylon line. I have landed a lot of trout with the 3 and 4 pound…..caught quite a few 17-19 inch fish on the 3# test Twitch Master no issues at all. It is the only nylon line I use….it’s good stuff.

If I’m fishing where 20” plus trout are I seem to always go back to 2lb sos and I use a leader as well.

After reading all of the hype about the SOS line I ordered a large spool of 2# .
After more investigation, I found out it was .006inch in diameter . That’s actually about 5# diameter line and a larger diameter than 4# P-line . And , the SOS will break way before the 4# P-line does .
Sure wish I hadn’t ordered the SOS .

The Sunline BMS fluoro in 2.5 or 3 would be an excellent choice if your ok ordering from overseas.

And of course there’s the new Varivas Blue Moon Ajing fluorocarbon, in a 2, 2.5 or 3, but it’s out of stock in the domestic market right now, but I’ve seen available in the JDM shops.
