    Sunline "Night Blue" ester line

Best of both worlds - fluorescent blue in the sunlight, clear under water. Glows under black light for night fishing.
Formulated to have less spool memory than other ester lines
240m spool (compared to Varivas 140m)
    2.5# test, .117mm dia

Have you used this line? Is it more supple than the other esters?

    Regards

Do you need to use a shock leader with that line?

I use a shock leader with it. All the manufactures of ester line strongly suggest you use a shock leader and adjust your drag accordingly.

Does the Sunline "Night Blue" ester line sink as well as the Varivas?

I can’t find the specific gravity for the Sunline but I’m sure it does. Chris will check back in later at some point and maybe let us know. Even though I have about 6 spools of the Varivas ester I’m interested in the Sunline.

    Regards

I saw an ad for the TyePro while on Alphahawk's YouTube channel. It looks like it would work well tying knots with these thin lines. Especially with my old eyes and fat fingers. I have one on the way from Amazon.

The Sunline Ester interests me also. Last Summer I thought about a night time Crappie trip to fish the dock lights and ramp/marina lights. As I mostly single pole (vertical jig) when the water gets warm I quickly realized I had no fluorescent line under 10lb test. My Bass boat is set up with 4 black light plugs and I have identified at least half a dozen areas that should hold feeding Crappie at night, just did not have the proper line for the trip. With the JDM equipment and the flourescent Ester line, a jet ski and wake boat free night of Summertime Speck Stalking could be fun. I know I could buy a 5 dollar spool of 2lb Stren Flourescent and give it a shot, but monofilament just feels so mushy now that I have went exclusively to braid/super lines. This JDM journey is fun, just costly.

Yeah.....once you start using the better lines you don’t want to go back.

Because of recent knee surgery, I have not been fishing at all since I got the line in stock. All I can say is the Sunline website says they formulated their size .4 (and thicker) ester line to be softer than the size .3 (and thinner), specifically to address managability issue.

The photo shows a spool of size .25 line. The line in stock is Japanese size .5 (formulated to be softer).
