Thanks for the link. Those Presso rods look real nice, but at around $250 for the cheaper one and $500 for the more expensive one, I'll wait to see some reviews first. Too bad about no reel in the Presso series.

Having seen those rods when they debuted them I thought they were ugly. I think the old Presso Limited AGS rod really looked good. If I’m not mistaken the old Limited rods are quite a bit lighter too...which I find odd that the new model did not cut some more weight.

Thinking about a sub $100 JDM reel for my Leland TCB rod, what suggestions do y'all got? I was looking at the Abu Garcia Superior, Shimano Sahara or Nasci, or the Daiwa Legalis or Revros. Open to other options as well.

The 1000 series Legalis seems like a good deal for the money...specs look in line with a reel that would compliment the rod. Randy may have a suggestion as well.

I don’t have much experience with any of those except the Sahara...which out of the 2 I had the bushing would swell and cause binding. I do hear good things about the Nasci but it is pretty heavy compared to the Legalis.

I have Sahara 500, which I used only briefly, but it worked fine for me, from "3 lbs" nanobraid to 1.5 lbs JDM ester. It has a deep spool, so I see no use for it now (240 m of 1.5 lbs ester barely filled a third of the spool), especially after all the recent JDM acquisitions. It is now sitting somewhere in the garage with an unopened spare spool. That reminds me to sell quite a bit of tackle no longer in use...

The Sahara and Nasci are the exact same reel in almost every aspect. The literal only difference is that the Nasci has water seals which is designed for use in saltwater. Outside of the seals there is no difference. So for freshwater panfish it just doesn't make sense to spend the extra money for the Nasci when you'll get the same product for less with the Sahara.

With that being said I have the Legalis 1000 for panfish and the Sahara 2500 for bass. It's not exactly an apples to apples comparison, but I prefer the Legalis. Feels smoother, less resistance when starting to reel, feels better in hand, and it looks a lot better in my opinion. Haven't had it for too long yet, but I'd recommend the Legalis for panfish.
