I'm intrested in your feedback on this rod after you get some more seat time with it. Especially if you think it would have merit as a bluegill/crappie dropshot rig.

I have the same rod and wouldn’t consider it to be a good drop shot rod however I have not used it yet. I am going to use it this summer fishing jigs for smallies, redbreast, and redeye... also I prefer a longer rod for drop shot... I suppose it is all personal preference...
My initial impression on the Major Craft SOLPARA SPXT-76Ltelescopic spinning rod - Spoiler Alert ! OH NO!
* Not high end and feel cheap, for the record I only paid 80 bucks for it but this is exactly what i was expecting
* Pretty light
* Only two guides are glued/attached to the rod Tip and middle one. There are 7 guides total and 5 of them slide up and down the telescopic parts of the rods.
* the rod come with nice packaging including the typical major craft suitcase and plastic tip cover.
* Not very small once collapsed it's about 26 inches ...
Then the tip BROKE ?!?!?!?! Not sure what happened during unboxing since I was very careful inspecting everything. I only extended it and collapsed it a few times being very gentle ...

FSATL - I feel your pain. I did a quick trial run on the Daiwa BBB. It definitely is a light action bass rod. Right after I ordered it, a new Daiwa telescopic rod was offered at Plat. The new one is basically an updated version. Lighter and I’m sure more sensitive. I didn’t catch any fish in the short 30 minutes of bank fishing, but I could tell that it was made for bass than sunfish. Not a bad thing for Ozark streams. Just not what I expected. I don’t think I’m a huge fan of the sliding guides. I think they add more weight than they add to sensitivity (if that makes sense). The Daiwa BBB will definitely be a specialty rod (back packing only). If I can bring another JDM rod, I will.

I agree. Obviously I didn’t get the chance to try the rod on the water and cannot comment on its action but I was immediately not a big fan of the sliding guides. I really wanted to enjoy a backpacking rod that I can take anywhere or leave in the car. I have contacted Digitaka for support since the rod tip broke almost immediately when handling the rod during unboxing. Again, I’m insisting on the fact that I was very careful so it’s possible that I did receive a lemon. I really liked the idea of the portability of a telescopic rod but like you I will most likely invest in another quality JDM rod rather than going with the telescopic route ...

Have you considered the Major Craft Finetail Trekking Travel rod? I know it's alot more than what you paid for but I think a quality 4 piece pack rod will outperform most of the telescopic rods out there:

There are travel rods offered in the MC Troutino series as well. I might just buy one, lols!
These 4 piece rods take a little longer to set up than a telescopic rod but not that much longer. I think for an ultralight they give up little in performance. I have a lightweight 43" poly tube I pack my 2 pc ultralight 6.5 ft rods when I pack in but give up little in performance. Eventually I will buy a Major Craft Trekking Travel rod that will really pack well.

Thank you for the reply. However, I already own the Major Craft Trekking model FTX-46/505UL for mountain stream fishing. I paired it with the new Luvias 2000SXH and it's a nice combo. I was looking for an all around telescopic rod that can use at the Lake but also for light saltwater game and the Solpara Mobile SPXT-76L specs seemed to fit the bill ... I am waiting to hear back from Digitaka to possibly get it replaced or refunded. I was also considering the Daiwa Mobile pack series line-up as well ...
Although all the telescopic rods I mentioned are for the JDM market, they appear to be made in China... FYI

I'm curious fishsolid if you've received any response from Digitaka . I too am in a dispute with Digitaka as I ordered 3 of the major craft 6'8" aji triple crosses and when I gave one to a fellow member he opened the case and in the rod case was only the bottom ( butt ) section of the rod. The entire top section of the rod was not in the case. I've emailed Digitaka 3 times over the course of the past 5 day's and received an automatic response each time saying they would respond within next opening hour but as of today I have not gotten any response. I guess if I don't hear from them by Tuesday which will be a week I'll be forced to file a dispute with paypal . I've bought quite a bit of equipment from them in the past and never had a problem . If anyone has had a problem , how long did it take to get a response? Scott
