    Default Better Anchor WInch?

It's the year 2023. Does nobody make a better manual anchor winch still? My (first) old boat came with your typical, non-functional anchor winch. This is my first boat, but not my first rodeo. I don't know if I've ever seen one of these things more than a couple years old that still works. I took mine apart today, and, just as I suspected, it's impossible to fix and reassemble.

But, I can't really find any online that are different. I hate the engineering of these things. See Pic below for example. Are there any better designs that I'm missing? I know it's the age of spot lock and electric everything, but I want the ability to drop an anchor like a caveman. Probably going to spend some summer months sitting around with a catfish pole out.

Not much out there in the way of manual ones.

Yeah, I have zero interest in an electric one. I guess I'll just get one of the crappy ones and try to keep it greased enough to last a few years before the free spool stops working.

What have you got against an electric one if you don't mind me asking. I absolutely love mine.

Just one more thing to wire up and deal with when I have no need for it. I'm a simple kind of man.

Surely the bushings could be upgrades to a better type so that it works better

I've owned one that worked perfectly. But.....the handle cranks against natural motion and you don't have any horsepower. Just my 2 cents
