Default Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Bay/Creek

I fished Limestone from 7AM till lunch. Fishing went from slow to mud by lunch time. Started with the current muddy and 61 degrees, but the pits were 65 degrees and clear with visibility of about 12 inches. As the water continued to rise the muddy water came into the pits and dropped the visibility to zero. I managed 8 and returned another 6 or 8 short fish before the water became chocolate milk and shut everything down. The first pit to the left coming in off the bay had the big Gator in it today. I think he's gotten even bigger. I got see him from about 20 or 25 feet away soaking in the sun. Still had to believe we have a Gator that big in North Alabama.

DB, I’m glad you saw him too. This is the picture I took today. Every bit of 12ft maybe more. I casted around a few times and left that pit to him. He’s something else.

I caught a stripe, a largemouth, and a nice catfish but no crappie. I think I came a little late and missed the bite but still a great time out.

The picture doesn't do him justice, he's wider across the stomach than my kayak is wide and maybe longer, LOL!

Only eight, but there getting some nice color to them.

The Gator was in the same area, but sitting in about a foot of water where only the top half of him was visible. I was trying to jig my stake bed I put under that tree, but he sure was close, LOL.

Not sure if he is the same one i saw a couple weeks ago in the big pit on the other end or not. He was at lest 12 feet and laying up on the bank. He was impressive. Thanks for the stake beds, i caught a couple off of it a couple weeks ago. Looks like more rain the end of next week

I came down there around 11. Had to clean up some mild storm damage. As soon as I crossed the creeks on the service road I knew it wasn’t gonna be good. Rode down there but ended up fishin a while on the upper end at arrowhead. Only a few small gills.
