Default Kayak report for Limestone creek

Me and a buddy fished Limestone yesterday from 11 till 4 and did ok. Ended up with 14 keepers with 4 big slabs in the mix. We released 6-7 that were 9-9 1/8 inches as we were putting them in the pond and wanted the bigger fish. We also caught 10 or so short fish. Also saw 2 yellow perch caught by a bank fisherman at the sand bar. Most came out of the main creek with 5 out of the 1 st pit. Stripe and bluegill were plentiful. One of the white crappie was 15 inches and I lost one that big or bigger. Most the keeper came on the hair jig under a cork fish really slow. Did not see the gater yesterday. I was hopping he was out as my buddy has never seen one. The wind was a pain to deal with but we made it work. Very enjoyable day on the water.

There are a few of the hair jigs in the tree limbs in the first pit With the wind and the low hanging limbs it was hard to make an accurate cast with the cork on the line. Just wandering if the cold weather will back them out of the creek for a couple of weeks.

I’m about to try and find out.
