    Default Limestone Status

Anyone have a status report on Limestone? I haven't been out that way since the water has came down so low and was wondering if it was out of commission. I've noticed a lot of our Limestone Bay regulars haven't been reporting from it much this season. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and hope to see some of you out on the water soon!

I haven't been, but a good number of fish over winter in the deeper water of the creek making trips into the stump flats after a couple warm days. This fall hasn't gotten cold, so I'd guess there are still good numbers chasing shad in the stumps. Even with the primary areas out of the water or only a foot or two deep there's still plenty of three to six feet water in there and the deeper water of the creek for the fish to retreat too when a cold front comes through.

I fished the flats in my kayak yesterday from daylight to 11:30. I tried in boat Friday and it’s now parked with carbs in garage waiting for a kit. But crappie where biting tentatively. I got 3 in the boat but a dozen or so to the top of the water. All nice ones.all bites came with the bait moving very slow or not at all. I caught at least 25 catfish that only come off by pliers. Those were mostly in the 2-3 1/2 pound range. All released. The wind was zero until until just before I left. Very enjoyable trip.

The bay and channel are in as good of shape as it has been in years.

Great report, thanks for the firsthand updates! I haven't fished that area in a while.
