Default Kayak Trip Report, Cotaco Creek

I fished Cotaco today from 7:30AM till around 2PM. Other than being very wet early it was a great day on the water. I started catching fish single pole about 6 to 8 feet deep using a 1/32oz jig head with a 1" slider. After the rain stopped the wind picked up and the fish moved shallower. I started picking them up at only 24 to 36 inches. I kept half a limit and returned a couple dozen more that would measure plus many short fish. The gills and bass were also actively hitting anything with numerous also returned. One bass from a laydown was around 5 1/2 pounds. Good fight on 6-pound line and a 10-foot jig rod, LOL! Last few trips almost all Crappie have been Black, but today all fish (except for a handful) were White Crappie.

The water was 63 degrees and cloudily with visibility of about 12 inches.

Last trip for a couple weeks due to work but had to make one more before the weather turned cold! Pic tomorrow when I clean them.

Interesting the difference between the blacks in and now the whites. Thanks for the report DB. Poor fish need a break, understand about the work thing though.
