Sure you can. Lots of good ideas and threads talking about it here on cdc.

I've seen several posts about long lining. I'm fishing in my kayak right now but according to my unit my basic paddle speed is at or about 1.0 mph +- I've tried just tossing a jig or two out the back and paddling around in areas that looked to be holding fish but no luck. Obviously I can't fan out a spider rig on the kayak but thought about one on each side with maybe a set of small planer boards to keep them separated. Any thoughts?

Hope this helps to give you an idea or two that you can use to rig your kayak. There are more if you do a search in the forum or look in the small kayak boat thread.
Before I got my yak that was stolen fixed to spider rig I would run three rods out the front. One in the middle and one on each side. I called it red neck spider rigging but caught a bunch of fish like that.

Used to pull cranks with my ocean.
Spots and an.occasional crappie on various sized shadraps. Now ruined by a lowe and 50 merc. What took me 45 minutes to paddle became 3 minutes taking it easy.

What kayak do you have?

I've been pulling crankbaits and jigs from a kayak 7-8 years with great success. I run one rod out each side and sometimes a third line straight out the back. Using the breeze to drift downwind with jigs has been one of the most successful ways to ketch crappie for me too. Have fun & good fishing!

I fish from an Old Town Loon 126 and spider rigger 4 poles routinely. I've fished as many as 7 poles spider rigging from a kayak but find it's too much work fishing that many, LOL!
