Default Kayak Trip Report, Swan Creek WMA

I went to Swan Creek Saturday to test out my little boat, still leaking. There's a live well under the back seat with a through hull to drain it. I removed it and it looks like it has been leaking for a while. The plywood between the inner and outer layer of fiberglass was rotten and wet. Looks like I'm going to be cutting out the inner layer, replacing the plywood, then fiberglassing over. You know this is the reason I stay away from boats!

I returned to Swan this morning in my kayak to do a little fishing. Seemed the best pattern was a tiny minnow body on a 1/64oz jig about 8 inches below a bobber. I picked up a few here and there on isolated stickups or where there was shade off the back and at least 12 inches of water. I returned numerous smaller Gills and Bass, also tossed back three larger Crappie and a handful of short ones.

Very nice mess. I enjoy doing a little boat work when it isn't so hot

That boat looks like it'll be worth the effort. Glad to see you got out and caught you a mess. Congrats.

Bladow's Fiberglass Repair here in Decatur used to sell resin and cloth to people to do their repairs. Hopefully it won't be too big a repair. Nice job catching!
