As of Sunday the females still had eggs. I caught them in 17 ft of water. I never tried Shallow so I don't know if some had already moved up or not. This was at Fort Rucker

Interested to see some answers myself. Haven’t been able to get out much yet so i don’t know if i missed it. Trolled usual areas I hit at the mouth of flint yesterday from 2-4. Put nothing in the boat found nothing on the graph. Moved to Limestone 4:30-6, caught 5 single poling on piles in 3-4 FOW. All males, tails weren’t torn up, light coloration. Are they just now running in or already ran out for the most part? last week water temp was 55 in flint, yesterday it was 65.

I have caught fish deep and shallow about every trip I've been lately, anywhere from 2-15 FOW. It seems like fish are scattered about everywhere. I think some fish have laid out, some are getting ready, and some are a few weeks out..

AS far as the big G goes the Black crappie spawn based on the last 3 weeks is on the tail end. The big boys and girls (those over 1 and half lbs on up ) have already pretty much spawned out as well as the intermediates 12 to 16 inches),but the small ones in the 9.5 to 11 inches size are still away from the bridges hopefully haveing a good spawn. I have caught the least number of males this year I ever have that were not in their black spawning colors(Tuxedos) than I ever have. Most of the females i have causght in the last 10 days if they still have eggs either didnt lay them all or did not lay any as the eggs have turned the dead light tan or beige color with no blood in the sacs. 3 almost 10 inchers did have pretty bright yellows sacs though The few White crappie on the big G should be in full spawn as they always seem to be later than the black crappie to spawn and they always are when the dogwoods are in full bloom

For the most part, i think the spawn is about 2 weeks behind on Pickwick. The black crappie may be furhter along than the whites but i caught good black femailes this week that had not layed out. Whites i caught were not even close. I also think the fish are starting to spawn deeper on Pickwick than in the past. Water needs to calm down and the rain hold off for a bit. This coming weekend may be a good time to be on water.

Like Brush Buster said I think to think they are spawning deeper this year. I found some fish in 8-10 FOW that were busting at the seams. I think the water was down when they started to move up and do do their thing then we had a big rain. Instead of moving shallower, they stayed in the same exact place and the water rose. I caught fish in 4-5 FOW around the same areas before the rain.

When we have the colder nights like we have had this year the deeper water stabilizes quicker and stays more consistent than the shallow water does !

i caught these guarding nest Saturday evening! Most were males quite a few 12-14” fish only had 2 females out of a limit and they both still had good eggs and they were out deeper in 6-8 fow the males were 18”-4’ fow in 2-7fow

the temps on the bottom where these fish were was 65-67° I had checked some shallow water the day before and the water temp on the bottom was 60-61°
