As many per person as your state law will allow....and sometimes that vary from lake to lake.

I started with four, then six, then eight, then ten, then eight. I think a good approach would be to play around with about six. Move them around and try to see what kind of layout will work for your boat. Mindful that as time goes by ideas will change. Try to avoid drilling, moving, redrilling. Eight rods is a lot to keep up with unless they are well laid out. Navigation plays a role as well.

Maybe a picture of the boat will allow others to offer better advice. I’m no expert.
Maybe they will bite this one……

In Alabama Weiss Lake and Neely Henry Lakes have a limit of 3 poles per person. All other lakes are unlimited.

When it warms up this am plan to move 2 of the driftmasters to the rear either side of the livewell.Have the stuff, bases,,to surface mount them. Hopefully here's a pic of the boat. Thanks to all for the advice. Start with 6 and test run.May try the old trolling motor side mounted, but probably drag buckets.Name: 20211202_064053.jpg

I agree with Micanopy and also would add that you want to keep comfort in mind and try position the holders if your fishing out of a chair for hours where you have the most comfort not bending or reaching a whole lot.

I am hoping to pull cranks for the first time this coming year. Do y’all use your big motors or TM to pull?
