Default Kayak report for limestone creek

Me and a buddy fished Tuesday and did ok on bass but not so much on crappie. We had several shorts but only 3 that would measure. Had 20-25 bass with some good size ones. Also had a yellow perch. All released for another day. I did see a little 2 1/2 ft gator hid back in a bush.

    WEDNESDAY
I went back Wednesday and still could not get on the crappie. I caught 15 or so with 4 that would measure. I caught all but 2 on single pole with Marabou jig.
The 4 keepers came in areas i have never caught a crappie before. I did catch several bass and a few blue gills. The little gator was back under his bush again and i saw a 5 footer in the 3 rd pit. I love seeing the gators now. No crappie came out of the pits. Still a fun couple of days.I included a a link to the video.

I only caught a couple Saturday but they were in places I’d never caught any. Didn’t even get a bite in the pits except the one big fish that broke me off. It was way back in some brush right on the bank in about a foot of water. And he was BIG. Made me sick. Lol. I was doing good in the pits about 3 weeks earlier than this last year. Hope they move in there soon.

Yep that is the first small mouth i have caught up in limestone. I caught another one that i think was a mean mouth , small mouth spot cross. I have caught some of them around Decatur boat harbor. I have caught a lot of small mouth at the mouth of the river.

I am really liking the marabou jig. The only thing i hate is when you let it hit bottom and it turns muddy brown. I use the shad scent on it as well. The single pole is becoming my favorite way to crappie fish. Nothing like feeling that THUMP.
