Default Kayak Trip Report, Far North end of Limestone Bay/Creek

The water is down about two feet and 68 degrees at daylight. It had warmed to 70 degrees by afternoon. No baitfish schools yet, but I found plenty of willing fish. I kept a limit of fish 9 to about 10 1/2 inches and returned about the same number that were larger fish. Biggest two were about 15 inches. I used a mix of things, jig and bobber and single pole using a 1/16oz White Marabou jig and casting a 1" white and chartreuse slider on a 1/32oz jig head. Tossed back a dozen catfish also. It seemed any time my Marabou jig landed close to the bank under a shade tree I'd have a catfish grab it. The water is clear in the creek with visibility of about two feet, pits are about 12inches of visibility. Another couple weeks of cool weather and let Wheeler drop another foot and Limestone will be on fire.

Fish pics in the morning when I clean them!

I’d planned on going after work yesterday but had some things come up last minute. If nothing happens I will be there next Friday.

I fished all day and the Crappie were scattered. Most fish came out of two or three feet of water and were related to cover and shade under a tree.

Several forum members that fish Limestone each fall will tell you that once the baitfish and Crappie get thick you can fill a cooler in a couple hours sitting in one spot, usually in one of the old pits.

No Gator, but I'm sure he's in the area.

Crappie were probably 50/50 Black/White with several Black Nose. Barron Fork was the same Thursday (no Black Nose there though).

There are numerous new trees down since I last fished Limestone in the late spring. Should be some good cover to single pole in the spring.
