    Default 'Sup guys!

No I haven't died. I've been laying low. Most of you don't know but a little over 2 years ago, at the ripe old age of 47 I saw the best orthopedic shoulder surgeon in AL, because of lots of continuing pain in my right shoulder. He told me I needed a full joint replacement. I had 0% cartilage left in my right shoulder. I told him he was crazy and I wasn't having it done. My son broke his leg that fall in a football game and I took him to the ortho doc multiple times. Different group of doctors. I asked to schedule an appointment for a 2nd opinion. Their shoulder specialist said that was the only course of treatment. I was hard headed and put it off.

Anywho... While working and fishing this spring it got to hurting worse, and worse. Using the hydraulics on a the tractor was the worst. But whether it was fishing or tractor work, my shoulder hurt for a week afterwards. I finally broke down and accepted the inevitable. I scheduled surgery about 6 weeks ago, for the week of Thanksgiving. The just a few days later, hospitals started cutting out elective surgery because of Covid. I sure as the world didn't want to wait until next spring to get it done, so I got that surgery rescheduled to 4 weeks ago yesterday.

I'm fine, I'm recovering, PT sucks, but at least my shoulder doesn't hurt as much at rest as it did before the surgery. Another few weeks and I'll be ready to get back after some fish. I have a 4" stem of titanium cemented into the head of my Humerus. It has a chromed Cobalt "ball" on the end of it and my scapula has a new plastic type pad on it. I'm left handed, so all I have to do with my right hand is reel. I just have to remember not to use my right arm to help set the hook. I don't think it will take but once for it to remind me. LOL

So now you know where I've been, I hope you all are doing well.

Someone once said growing old ain't for the weak hearted. Hate it about your shoulder, but at least you got it fixed and are on the mend. Prayers for a speedy recovery.
