    Bob D nailed it, it seems to be true in most big water areas as well, especially on the big G white crappie are at least 90% to 95% of the catch when pulling cranks in the summer. Not sure why the black crappie are few and far between other than i dont think they hang out on the underwater channels and flats like the Whites. They just cant seem to leave the rocks and bridge pilings . That said there are a few specific places Blacks will attack cranks better than most of the lake.

    I have noticed that Black Crappie seem more structure orientated, vs White Crappie will suspend in open water more. Of course they act very differently in similar bodies of water often just down the road from each other. About the only constant I can fish is where they're baitfish, Crappie will be close by.
