Default Anyone fished Limestone creek lately?

Has anyone fished the limestone creek- gravel pit area ? Thinking the crappie and bass may be in the creek channel or deeper areas. Do the pits hold crappie with the hotter temps this time of year ? About ready to give it a try. Thanks

Water will have to cool way down before I have the nerve to go. Can’t wait for fall!

I usually wait until TVA drops Lake Wheeler a foot, maybe even two. It concentrates the Crappie at the same time cooler weather brings them back into the backs of the creeks chasing baitfish. Usually around the 1st of October is the start and it just keeping getting better until late November of December.

Thanks for the replies. My first trip to limestone creek was the end of October last year. I learned a lot and hope to add to that this year. You can really learn the lay of the creek channel and the cover when the water is all the way down in late winter. The main drawback is having to put in at the old iron bridge and drag-float your kayak back to the creek channel . Hope we have a early fall with cool temps.

After work yesterday I rode down the peninsula. There was a huge gator there at the put in over on that island. When I shut my door he slid off and went under so I didn’t get a pic. So if you go down there be careful.
