Caught some occasionally off the causeway at the tubes at Bellefonte. They were a welcome catch. They are some tasty critters

Have caught one or two here and their all over the lake !
takled to a guy several years ago that said they targeted them in the backs of coves in early spring when they spawn
would be interesting to figure them out ! Tasty critters for sure as stated already!

Just got to watch that razor sharp gill plate.

under the north sauty creek bridge on 79 is a good place to find them year round.......a minnow or small jig just off the bottom is always a good bet and they tend to be of edible size......water is 15-20 ft in middle...lots of crappie there too year round

I have caught several while bream fishing on beds.

When I get some time I'll try Bradford on Redstone since I caught several large perch there in the early spring, probably good as anywhere else to start searching. I know they're bottom feeders so bottom bouncing tiny jigs like I've done for Shellcrackers should be a good place to start.

April into May in Swan a bit down from the spring(we caught 4 this past Spring) and IN Guntersville in March in the Milfoil in front of the Gunterville airport out around the Islands mainly Buck island, are the only 2 places over the years we have caught more than 1 or 2 on a trip. They spawn early as they are a cold water fish actually related to Sauger. As to the Guntersville place the milfoil .weeds were the ticket in 3 to 4 ft of water but the milfoil is about been replaced by the cursed eel/ ribbon grass ,which they probably spawn in but hard to get to them. Wish I could catch them like i do Gills , they are top table fare.
