That is a nice mess of fish
I fished Sunday for the first time in a couple weeks and decided to return to 8 mile creek. I looked at the bridge off CR 1352, but it didn't look any better so I returned to CR 1422. That cliff (small hill really) hasn't gotten any better. I fished the first couple hours with very little luck, but finally found an area with fish stacked up in about 14 feet of water. I tried a little bit of everything, but best bait ended up being a 1/32oz roadrunner head with a 1" Pink/Chartreuse body Slider fished single pole with a slow retrieve 8 to 10 foot deep. Once I found the right combination it was one fish after another, but most were under 9". I kept a limit of Crappie that were between 9 1/2 and 10 1/2 inches and returned a couple hundred short fish. Great day on the water.
Visibility was about 18 inches and 78 degrees at daylight.

The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
I fished it today but must have got in the short fish you threw back. Lol. First fish was over 14 then a bunch of shorts and a few around 10. And yeah the bank just isn’t getting any better.

Ditch throwing back a couple of hundred short fish would make my day. Much less catching a mess like that. My son has been telling me he has seen what he thinks is crappie stacked up on his fish finder on Catoma in the 8 Mile Creek area. I may have to try to get down there and with him and see if we can catch some crappie if I can get him to quit chasing green carp. Great Job!

Great outing DB, glad you got some fillets the size you like.
Bob D, fried them up for supper tonight, all hot and crispy!!
I'll say one thing about Catoma, great tasting fish much like Madison County Lake.
