Default Gulf Shores fresh water fishing

We are headed to Gulf Shores middle of July. We were headed to play/watch tournament softball. Due to a few player injuries we are now not playing and just going for vacation. I am considering carrying my boat but don't really wanna fool with the Bay water. Are there any decent lake/river systems close by or 45 minutes away?

Anybody have a need for 14U pitcher/utility player

Within 45 minutes of Gulf Shores all of the rivers will be tidal and therefore brackish water. There is some good fishing down there.

Go north to Bay Minette, you can launch at Cliffs Landing or a little further at lower Bryant’s Landing. You will be on the tensaw river all freshwater and tons of options for crappie fishing. I recommend staying north of big briar creek, any further south and you will start getting into brackish water. Good luck.

You would be looking at least an 1 1/2 hr drive to get to the nearest landing for freshwater. I live 20 miles north of Gulf Shores and the traffic has been miserable lately. My grandsons were in a baseball tournament last week in Orange Beach and it was taking us 45 minutes just to go approximately 23 miles.

Hey man, Call ole Charlie boy. He has a good hook up on some inshore speckled trout and red fish charter captain. Be a good change of pace and some mighty fine eating to boot.
