Thread: Kayak Report 5/15 - Mallard Fox Creek WMA

Took my kayak out in search of bedding bluegill and/or shellcracker in the small area where Fox Creek and Trinity Branch feed into Wheeler. Fished shallow weed lines and ended up finding only one bed that did produce a few fish for me. No giants were found and there weren’t a ton of fish on this bed. I caught/released several small fish, but I did manage these few decent sized bluegill plus a bonus catfish that was fun on 4 lb line!

All caught on a black squirrel tail jig with chartreuse head hand tied by our very own GreeneGiant18, he does a great job! Tipped the jig with a Berkeley Power Honey Worm. Some were caught fishing under a bobber about 18” deep and others caught slowly dragging the jig through the beds.
