I had someone PM looking for information on Swan Creek so I decided to give it a try today. I fished the area on the east side of the train tracks off Sandy Rd. I huge tree had fallen across the launch so I started my trip by cutting up tree for 20 minutes. I spent about three hours casting a 1" slider on a 1/64oz jig head and a small spinner. I left with half a limit of Gills and tossed back smaller ones on just about every cast. I also retuned 13 Crappie that were all about 12 inches and several small bass. Fun short trip!

Were you casting to cover or open water?

This is a nasty, moss filled area with the deepest water only a couple feet deep once they pump down the water in late spring. You cast to where there's open water. The back northwest corner is usually mostly open and other areas open or close based on the wind blowing the moss around.
I caught numerous fish yesterday with a #4 hook and Berkley PowerBait Honey Worm under a bobber. I read they were good for perch and bought a small jar from Sportsman Warehouse a couple months ago. Yesterday I decided to toss into some open areas with a little bobber and the bait about 6 inches down. I ended up catching gills and shellcrackers from nearly every hole. I've got a few other moss choked areas I plan to give this a try in!

I caught several large perch over the winter and started researching a good bait for them. Never got back into the perch, but saw it in my box yesterday and decided to give it a try. I'll have to see if yesterday was special or if this is a bait and pattern that will continue to work but thought I would share.
