Default Anybody use a lowrance Hook2 4x fish finder

Bought my Dad one of these for Christmas. Been fishing several times and still the thing will not work correctly. All we see are lines straight up and down. We have the transducer strapped to trolling motor. Could this be the problem?

Sounds like interference to me. Do a web search on how to resolve it.

Pretty common problem and can affect them all no matter who manufactured it.

    Look here:

Tranducer needs to be sitting level while the boat is in water. Does it stop when trolling motor is not running. I have a hook 5 on the front of my boat. It doesn’t work well up there mounted to the trolling motor. Worked fine when it was on the transom of the flat bottom

No sir, it constantly just shows vertical lines. I have been reading and looking for resolutions and only think i can find said it sounds like the unit isn't recognizing the bottom to set the depth.

If it on the trolling motor it will have line in it every time you move the motor. I'm guessing you are referring to the side image? Side image doesn't work well on a trolling motor imo

Lot of different things can cause issue. Sharing power with finder and trolling motor can cause it. I have even heard of guys getting feedback with the finder hooked to the crank battery. They have to unhook the battery cables from the engine. So advice would be on the battery to the finder unhook everything else and see how it does.

I would recommend trying to hook it to a battery by itself, if you have an extra. You should we able to get a feeling of what it should look and act like. Based on this, you should be able to separate the interference culprit and work your problem out. I have fought this before. Some fish finders seem way more sensitive than others!
