    Default Elk River Attempt

New to the area and thought with all the high water and muddy conditions would try Elk River. Much too nice weather to stay home. Not expecting to catch much of anything but will be an opportunity to do some scouting and try out the new Hummingbird Mega 360.

Will put in at the Elf River boat ramp on 72.

Not sure where you are headed from there but Elk River can be hazardous. Especially after high waters. If you're traveling near the area of Shumakers Branch pay special attention. Channel maps are not accurate. Good luck it's usually feast or famine. I live within ear shot and don't fish it often for reasons listed.

    Thank you!!

Very familiar with treacherous waters. My home lakes in NE Oklahoma were very dangerous most of the time. It's the ones you don't see that get you.

Plan on using the trolling motor much of the time and go slow.

Only caught one crappie about 11 inches or so and one small white bass. Caught the crappie in about 12 feet of water at about 8 feet in depth. Nailed a dark green crank bait. Went back and covered the area again but no fish.

I fish all the way up to Shumaker Branch and back to the HWY 72 bridge.

Think I will try Sportsman Park next time.
